Level 1 Food Safety & Hygiene

Our Level 1 food safety & hygiene online course is a useful introduction for those undertaking work-experience in a food business or for anyone with a keen interest in learning more about the basic principles of food safety and hygiene.

This online course is suitable for those working in an environment where they are not directly involved in the preparation or handling of high-risk foods. It is also ideal for those working with pre-packaged or wrapped food.

This course will typically take 2 to 4 hours to complete. However, learners can complete each module at a time and pace to suit them. Learners are assessed by multiple-choice questions at the end of the course.

• Microbiological hazards
• Food poisoning and its control
• Contamination hazards and controls
• Safe handling and the storage of food
• Personal hygiene
• Food pests and pest control
• Cleaning and disinfection

Our online courses can be accessed on multiple platforms including tablets, desktop or laptops (excluding mobile devices). All you need is an internet connection.

Please note: Once purchased, you will receive log in details in a separate email from your order confirmation which can take up to 48 hours to receive.

This online course does not provide a qualification itself but does meet mandatory training requirements for this level of learning.

You will receive a certificate immediately on completion of the course. This certificate may be printed and used as evidence that you have been trained in Food Safety to the appropriate level. Fizz Training can arrange for an examination for a learner, either from home or attending a classroom course, please get in touch for more details.  

Regardless of the job role or industry, having an understanding of Food Safety is imperative to keeping your customers safe.

The course familiarises the learner with basic food hygiene practices, so they are able to work safely near food. There are no prerequisites to study this course however a basic understanding of the principles of Food Safety may be beneficial.

This course is ideal for employees as part of an induction, and for those who are looking at taking a Food Safety online test to demonstrate learning. The course can also be used as part of the on-programme element of the new apprenticeship standards, supporting the knowledge, skills and behaviours apprentices need to effectively integrate into the workplace.
